What our customers say

4.9from 7,200+ reviews
Excellent print quality. We were so happy with our the Shell scheme Exhibition Graphics we got from BackDrop Source NZ. We were provided tracking details through WhatsApp which was odd, but everything arrived as expected. And the quality of the graphics was very good. We used them at an Expo over the weekend just been and everything was the size and quality we wanted.

Great quality and exceptionally fast delivery Very happy with the result. Our backdrop is light and very portable, and looks excellent on display. Thank you! In the photo it’s just the wall at the back.
Paul DNZ
Easy to assemble and looks great I was pleasantly surprised how easy the backdrop was to put together (and disassemble afterwards) and how good it looked on the night of our event. Made our workshop guests feel like celebrities - all that was missing was the red carpet!
Simon YNZ
Amazing service and product Super fast team.. helpful on live chat always got back to me within 10 minutes on email about art work.. great price.. their process is very quick and slick ..

Fabulous Service and Product We have ordered new skins for our media wall 3 or 4 times in the past, and have always been happy with the product, which is so easy to use and change out. This time we had a few additional requests; we wanted a double-sided product, had a fairly low-resolution image we wanted up to 3m wide... and of course, we needed it in a hurry! The team were amazing to deal with. The product arrived early, and we were blown away by the absolutely outstanding quality of the image. Thank you so much, we will be customers for life!

Why choose exhibition light boxes over a standard pop-up banner?

A printed banner depends on the hall lighting, so it can look flat beside brighter stands at a busy expo. Exhibition light boxes light your graphic from behind, so colours glow and your message reads from across the aisle at a trade show booth, a product launch or in a shop.

An LED light box from this range pairs an aluminium frame with LED backlighting and a dye-sublimation printed fabric graphic. The graphic has a slim silicone edge (SEG) sewn around its border. That edge pushes into a channel in the frame, so the fabric sits taut with no visible clips on the face.

Why the spend stacks up

  • The frame is reusable. When your campaign changes, you can order replacement print only instead of a whole new display.
  • One frame can carry your exhibition stand graphic one month and an in-store promotion the next.
  • Fabric graphics are lighter to handle and pack than rigid printed panels.
  • Backdropsource has made custom printed fabric displays since 2004, so you are dealing with a display specialist rather than a general printer.

Which lightbox display suits your stand or shop?

Start with where the display will stand and what it needs to do. The range falls into four broad groups.

Frameless freestanding displays

Frameless models put the printed fabric front and centre, with no frame border on show. Towers come in 0.85m, 1m and 1.2m widths at 2m high for entrances and shop floors. Walls in 2.5m, 3m, 4m, 5m and 6m widths form the back of an expo stand. For tall venues there is an oversize 3m W x 4m H display.

Framed 80mm and 120mm displays

These are backlit SEG fabric frames in two aluminium profile depths. They come in many widths and heights, including landscape formats such as 2m W x 1m H as well as portrait towers. There are also 1m, 2m and 3m backlit display frames at 2.3m high.

Counters, shelves and stands

The light box display counter (1m H) and the fabric folding light box counter give you a lit front for demos or registrations. The light box with shelves holds product beside your graphic. The folding lightbox stand comes in 0.85m and 1m widths at 2m high.

Feature and shopfront pieces

Choose from these feature options:

  • The curved display, for a softer shape.
  • The RGB LED fabric display, for colour-changing light.
  • The premium light box with header, for a branded top section.
  • The 6x3m backlit wall with 2 frames, to fill a full 6m back wall.

For a shopfront, the double-sided rotating sign box works as a compact advertising light box.

Should you pick an 80mm or 120mm exhibition lightbox frame?

Depth is how far the aluminium profile extends behind the face of the graphic. Both depths hold LED backlighting and a tensioned SEG print. The choice mostly comes down to size and footprint.

80mm depth

  • A slimmer profile, in sizes from 0.5m W x 1.5m H to 2m W x 2m H.
  • Complete from NZD 701.
  • Suits smaller stands, retail aisles and reception areas where every centimetre counts.

120mm depth

  • A deeper profile, offered in larger formats including 3m W x 3m H and 4m W x 2.5m H.
  • Complete from NZD 909.
  • Several frameless walls are also listed at 120mm depth.

Before you choose

  1. Measure your floor space and check the venue's height limit.
  2. Find out where the nearest power outlet will be.
  3. Think about viewing distance. Wide walls work as a backdrop, while towers catch passing foot traffic.
  4. Shortlist two or three sizes and compare complete prices.

What does a complete SEG lightbox cost compared with a replacement print?

Most listings show two prices:

  • Complete unit: the frame, LED lighting and printed fabric graphic, ready to stand up.
  • Replacement print only: the fabric graphic without a frame, for when you already own the matching hardware and want to refresh your branding.

A light box costs more than a standard pop-up banner, but the frame keeps working for you. If you run several shows or seasonal promotions, swapping prints is the cheaper way to keep your branding current. The premium light box with header (complete from NZD 3969) and the double-sided rotating sign box (complete from NZD 283) are listed as complete units only.

How portable is a free standing light box for trade shows?

Most frame-based displays in this range are tool-free and ship with a soft carry bag. That makes a portable lightbox far easier to move between venues than rigid signage.

Set-up on site

  • Frame sections connect by hand. The SEG graphic is then pressed into the channel around the edge.
  • Folding models, such as the folding stand and folding counter, open out rather than building from loose parts.
  • Multi-frame walls like the 6x3m backlit wall take more space to pack and more time to build, so allow for that in your bump-in plan.

Power at the venue

Every display here is lit by LEDs, so each one needs mains power. Before bump-in, confirm with your event organiser:

  • whether your stand includes a power outlet, and where it sits;
  • whether the venue requires any electrical testing.

How do you get your graphic printed in time for the event?

Exhibition light boxes are printed to order, so plan backwards from your event date.

  1. Choose your display, size and depth, and decide between a complete unit or replacement print only.
  2. Request a free 2D mockup to preview how your artwork sits on the frame.
  3. Approve the proof. Nothing prints until you do.
  4. Production begins. The lead time is listed on each product page and is often 24 business hours after artwork approval.

Check the listed lead time against your event date before ordering, and contact the team if timing is tight. If a print error happens, Backdropsource reprints it free.

Standard, non-custom items can be returned within 7 days of delivery if they are unused and in their original packaging. Custom-printed graphics cannot be returned once the proof is approved. Each fabric lightbox print is made to an exact frame size, so double-check size and depth before you sign off. For product-specific questions, see the FAQs below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an LED light box NZ supplier that prints the graphic too? +
Yes. Backdropsource supplies complete backlit fabric displays with the frame, LED lighting and dye-sublimation printed graphic together, so you are not sourcing hardware and print separately. The business has made custom printed fabric displays since 2004. You can also request a free 2D mockup to preview your design before anything is printed.
Are exhibition light boxes single or double-sided? +
The Double-Sided LED Rotating Sign Box is the model in this collection named as double-sided, complete from NZD 283. For any other display, check the product options or ask the team before ordering whether a second graphic can be added. The number of sides affects both your artwork files and your quote.
Can one person set up a portable lightbox? +
Usually, yes, for the smaller models. Compact towers, the folding stand and the counters are the easiest to handle alone, as most frames in the range are tool-free and pack into a soft carry bag. Wide walls such as the 5m, 6m or 6x3m options are bulkier to lift and fit, so plan for an extra pair of hands on bump-in day.
What is an RGB LED fabric light box display? +
It is a backlit SEG display that uses RGB LEDs, so the light behind your graphic can show colour rather than plain white. Sizes run from 1m W x 2m H to 3m W x 2.4m H, all at 80mm depth, and it is complete from NZD 2204. It suits launches and events where lighting effects help draw a crowd.
Which light box counter should I choose for an expo stand? +
Choose the light box display counter if you want a fixed 1m high counter in 0.85m or 1m widths at 120mm depth, complete from NZD 1110. Choose the fabric folding light box counter, complete from NZD 1100, if a quick folding set-up matters more. Both give you a lit front for demos, sampling or registration desks.
Can I use an advertising light box in a shop window? +
Yes, as an indoor display behind the glass. The double-sided rotating sign box suits a shopfront, while a frameless 0.85m W x 2m H tower, complete from NZD 698, gives you a full-height lit poster inside the window. Treat these as indoor displays unless a product page says otherwise, and make sure a power outlet is close by.
What size light box suits a 3x3m expo stand? +
A 3m wide back wall is the natural fit for a 3x3m expo stand. The frameless 3m W display comes in 2.5m or 3m high at 120mm depth, complete from NZD 2288, and the 120mm framed option also offers 3m widths. Check the venue's height limit first, then add a tower or counter at the front if you have room.
Can an exhibition lightbox hold products on shelves? +
Yes. The light box with shelves combines a backlit graphic with shelving, in 1m W x 2m H or 1m W x 2.5m H at 120mm depth, complete from NZD 1311. It works well for retail promotions and trade show booths where you want samples displayed right in front of the glowing image.
What is a 3m x 4m SEG lightbox used for? +
The oversize 3m W x 4m H display suits halls, atriums and retail spaces with extra ceiling height, where a standard 2.5m tall wall could look small. It is complete from NZD 3952, with replacement print only from NZD 1058. Confirm the maximum build height with your event organiser before ordering, as tall stands are often restricted.
