Which exhibition counter style suits your stand?

Start with what the counter has to do on the day. A desk for greeting visitors needs a different shape from one that presents a speaker or puts products in front of passers-by. Narrow the range by purpose first, then by size and budget.

Match the counter to its job

  • Reception and sign-in: the Fabric Trade Show Reception Desk – 1.5m Wide, the Event Reception Counter - 2m wide and the Griffin Fabric Modular Reception Stand give staff more room to work side by side.
  • Speeches and presentations: the Fabric Pop Up Podium Counter, the Fabric Griffin Trade Show Podium and the Convertible Fabric Podium Case with Header Display work as a portable lectern for launches, awards nights and seminar stages.
  • Brochures and products: the Fabric Tabletop Tower Display with Shelves and the rectangular, triangular and oval counters with acrylic triple shelves lift stock to eye level.
  • Screens and demos: the Integrated Monitor Fabric Display Table holds a screen for video loops or live product walkthroughs.
  • Extra branding height: the oval, triangle and rectangle counters with header panel add a raised logo panel that stays visible over a crowd.
  • Glow and contrast: backlit pop up shapes and SEG lightbox counters light your graphic from inside.

Shape also changes how the stand feels. Round, oval and triangle counters soften a corner and suit open or island layouts. Rectangles sit neatly in front of a backwall and give a broad, flat print area. For in-store sampling and pop-up activations, the Magnetic Promotional Fabric Counter also works as a promotional counter outside the expo hall.

What does a complete trade show counter price include?

Every complete price covers the frame and the dye-sublimated fabric print, so you are comparing finished counters, not parts. Most frame-based displays assemble without tools and ship with a soft carry bag. Each product page lists the exact inclusions and the production lead time.

Already own a frame?

Many counters offer a replacement print only option. That means a rebrand, a new campaign or a scuffed graphic does not require you to pay for hardware twice. Those prices cover the printed fabric alone, with no frame.

Why not just a table and cloth?

A hired table with a cloth costs less on day one. An exhibition counter, however, gives you print on every visible side, a consistent height for greeting visitors and a frame you can re-skin for your next trade show booth. If budget is tight, the header-panel counters sit between the basic and premium options.

Is a backlit counter worth the extra spend?

Lit counters, whether SEG lightbox models or backlit pop up shapes, have lighting inside the frame behind the fabric. Colours look brighter and the counter stands out from across a busy hall. They cost more than non-lit versions and need a power point, so think about where you usually exhibit before deciding.

Lighting tends to pay off when

  • the venue is dim or the event runs into the evening
  • neighbouring stands are lit and you need to hold attention
  • you photograph or film your stand for social media

Non-lit is usually enough when

  • the hall is bright and evenly lit
  • power at your stand is limited or costs extra
  • you want the clean SEG edge for a lower spend

Like-for-like pairs show the price difference clearly. The SEG Popup Counter is complete from NZD 1,166, while the Popup SEG Backlit Counter is complete from NZD 1,529. The slim 1m high SEG models follow the same pattern, with the non-lit version costing less than its lit equivalent.

What size portable counter fits your expo stand?

Size the counter to your floor space and to what happens behind it. A counter that is too wide for a 3x3m stand blocks the entrance. One that is too small on a 6x3m stand looks lost against a long backwall.

  • 3x3m exhibition stand: one counter around 1m wide leaves a clear walkway. Examples include the 1m W SEG Popup Counter or the 0.9m wide Backlit Premium Fabric Counter Display.
  • 6x3m or wider stand: consider the 2m W SEG Popup Counter, the 1.8m Backlit Premium option or the Event Reception Counter - 2m wide. A pair of smaller counters, one at each end, also works.
  • Large island stands and stages: the Premium Fabric Counter Display - 3m W or the Griffin Fabric Modular Reception Stand create a long, staffed front.

Quick sizing checks

  1. Measure your stand and mark where the backdrop, screens and walkway will sit.
  2. Check the depth if you need a worktop. The SEG Popup Counter is 37cm deep and the Backlit Premium option is 0.4m deep. The 1m high SEG lightbox counters are only 120mm deep, so they act more as a slim branded front than a worktop.
  3. Leave standing room behind the counter for staff, stock and bags.
  4. For an event counter that travels between venues, choose a frame-based pop up counter, as most frame-based displays ship with a soft carry bag.

How do you get the artwork right and the counter ready for show day?

Request a free 2D mockup with your logo. Nothing is printed until you approve the artwork. Custom-printed graphics cannot be returned once the proof is approved, so use this step to check the counter shape, size and wording carefully.

Matching your backdrop

Send the artwork or brand colours from your existing backdrop or banner wall along with your counter request. That way the counter and wall read as one exhibition stand. Dye-sublimation printing gives rich colour on fabric, and any print errors are reprinted free.

Timing before your event

Production lead time is shown on each product page and is often 24 business hours after artwork approval. Include your event date when you ask for a quote so timing can be checked before you commit. Try not to leave artwork approval to the last minute.

Setting up on the day

Most frame-based exhibition counters are tool-free, so you will not need a toolkit at the venue. A quick practice build at the office before your first show is time well spent. For more product-specific answers, see the FAQs below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which exhibition counter is best for handing out brochures? +
A counter with shelves is the best choice for brochures and samples. The Fabric Tabletop Tower Display with Shelves is complete from NZD 1,583. The rectangular, triangular and oval counters with acrylic triple shelves also keep literature upright and visible from the aisle. If you mainly need a worktop for sign-ups, a reception-style desk with a flat top may suit you better.
Can an exhibition counter hold a TV or tablet? +
Yes. The Integrated Monitor Fabric Display Table is designed to hold a screen within a branded fabric counter. It suits video loops, product demos or digital sign-ups at your stand. Check the product page for the supported screen size and mounting details before you order, and make sure there is a power point near the counter for the screen.
What is the difference between a podium and a portable lectern? +
In practice they do the same job: a narrow, upright stand for a speaker or MC. Our podium-style counters add printed fabric branding on the front and sides, so the stand stays on-brand in event photos. Options include the Fabric Pop Up Podium Counter, complete from NZD 1,248, and the Fabric Griffin Trade Show Podium, complete from NZD 2,079.
Do lit exhibition counters need power at the venue? +
Yes. Any lightbox or backlit model needs a power point because the lighting sits inside the frame. Book power with your venue or organiser when you confirm your expo stand, and check that the cable will reach where the counter stands. If power is limited or costly, a non-lit SEG or fabric counter gives a similar clean look without needing electricity.
How much is a replacement print for an exhibition counter? +
The price depends on which counter you own, and each product page lists its own replacement print only (no frame) option. For example, a replacement print only for the Fabric Griffin Trade Show Podium is from NZD 152. For the Fabric Oval Counter with Header Panel, it is from NZD 187. Open the page that matches your frame to see its print-only price.
What does a header panel add to a counter? +
A header panel adds a raised branded panel above the counter top. This keeps your logo at eye level even when people are standing in front of the counter. It is available on the Fabric Oval Counter with Header Panel (complete from NZD 572), the Fabric Triangle Counter with Header Panel (complete from NZD 598) and the Fabric Rectangle Counter with Header Panel (complete from NZD 656).
Which counter works best as a reception desk at an expo? +
A wide reception-style counter works best when staff need to greet visitors, scan tickets or take sign-ups. Options include the Fabric Trade Show Reception Desk – 1.5m Wide, complete from NZD 1,307, and the Griffin Fabric Modular Reception Stand, complete from NZD 2,480. The Event Reception Counter - 2m wide is another option if you want a long branded front for a busy entrance.
Are SEG counters better than stretch fabric counters? +
SEG counters give a sharper, framed finish, while stretch fabric counters are often simpler and lower in price. With SEG, the silicone-edged graphic presses into a channel in the frame for a tight, flat surface. Stretch fabric pulls over the frame like a sleeve. For comparison, the SEG Popup Counter is complete from NZD 1,166 and the Fabric Oval Counter with Header Panel is complete from NZD 572.
Can I use an exhibition counter for in-store promotions? +
Yes. Most counters work just as well in a shop, foyer or shopping centre activation as they do on an exhibition stand. Frame-based styles that pack into a soft carry bag are the easiest to move between sites. The Magnetic Promotional Fabric Counter, complete from NZD 804, is a good fit for sampling days and product launches.
